What is an independent midwife?
An Independent midwife is an autonomous practitioner who has chosen to work outside of the NHS. She acts as a woman’s advocate whilst providing individualised midwifery care. The Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Midwives Rules, Midwife’s Code of Practice and Code of Professional Conduct govern her clinical practice.
The Midwifery Practice is a group of self employed independent midwives who provide midwifery care tailored to your individual needs. Evidence-based information is provided to help you make appropriate choices regarding your pregnancy and birth, including whether to give birth at home or in hospital. We are all experienced in home birth, water birth and VBAC. We value continuity of care and enjoy establishing trusting relationships with women and their families |
